I recently changed the hood on my SRX and the replacement hood does not have any holes cut for the Bender Cold Air kit that I already have on my cowwel . Before I start cutting I thought I'd run this by . On my old hood when ever I would getter wound up the foam would fly out of the induction cowwel leading me to believe that the air acting on the induction cowwel was not causing a positive pressure that I would have expected . Exact opposite. Has anyone actually done any before n after testing on this kit ? Not just seat of the pants testing but actual #'s of some kind ? I searched on here but never found what I'm looking for .

its a 50/50 thing
as you have found out the pressure is greater under the hood from the incoming air thru hood vents, bellypan openings in front then behind the windshield thats why your foam flys out, having said that, when you drill the top of the airbox and hood it allows the engine to get more air wether its from there or under the hood as the airbox is opened up, this gives you some more power.
Nobody can really tell you that the cold air kit makes this amount of hp gain because unless you have a chassis dyno set up in a wind tunnel you cant reproduce whats happening. On a engine dyno the sleds sitting still.
I can tell you more of the gain is associated with drilling of the airbox then that hood scoop behind the windshield. you can gain a tad of power drilling the top of the airbox from increased airflow. I now always leave the baffle tube plate in or they become pretty fussy to temp changes outside at least the 2 srx I had with the bender kits would.

I was sucked into one of those on my first srx. Later in life after much tuning on other sleds, racing, and testing underhood temp etc etc, I found that this at best was, like the bender can and transfer rods, a feels like more power kind of thing. It made my sled louder, thus feeling like it is doing something. Any gain you get from some cold air you might get is lost when your screaming down the lake or trail at speed in the loss of under hood pressure. At speeds above 30, the air going into the box are similar to outside air temps as there is ample movement through the sled to get the heat from the pipes out(this is on sleds with wrapped pipes) This pressure increase and and cool air is what you want.
This is one of the mods I wanted to try with my venture. Block off the outside air and pull from the top of the coul like an srx. I think there is some gain to be had there, as well as wrapping the stock pipes and muffler to keep the temps down even more.

just a idea. again i know tar results. but i have time slips. best ever without 10.68 e.t. , changed to power inc pipes and bender cold air kit. nothing else. 10.49. 3:16 (yammie tony)

One of the better things I ever installed on my MSRX. Every time I took a hard right in powder I would get lots of snow under the hood and couldnt get 7000 grand out of it. I cannot see it not working better compared to trying get air from under the hood. It worked for me.
Just installed Aaen pipes and vforce reeds. Did it ever help my midrange power. For my air box I left the dividers and took the other piece out. I always thought the cold air kit added 5 hp.
