Was out riding last night and my hand warmers quit. Temp light was flashing a code. Should I just be able to swap out with new warmers and have the flashing code dissappear? Or is there something else I need to fix or look for first? Thanks guys! Hands got a little chilly last night! Lol

I'd start with looking for a rub through behind the cowl or under the bar pad.

That would be too easy, just bad grips.

My buddy says it's the dial, but Gona look around for rub through. They were working great earlier on in day.

After the sled starts, the CDI runs a resistance check on fuel gauge, grips, tps, etc...
If it finds an open, it'll trigger the light/flash a code. Once the open is corrected - no more light/code.
I'd look for a chaffe common to both grips but wouldn't rule out the switch though unlikely. A visual inspection of the circuit is the best way to find it though you can narrow it down with a continuity check at different points.
Many chaffed areas have been identified (bar pad, cowl, under the engine) but as these things get older more will pop up. I was surprised to find a bunch of pontential areas under the bar pad of my '01 that had started, and would have eventually rubbed through.
Also check connectors for corossion and terminal fit.

Ok thanks snomofo! I switched out the dial after work really quick but haven't tried it yet. Going back out to garage once kiddies are in bed. But my dial was pretty corroded, my brothers...the one I installed is clean. Under the cowl looked fine, but haven't checked under handle bar pad.

Everything looks good under handle bar pad and cowl. I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning. Only supposed to be -2 so if they don't work I'll be fine. I'll let yas know if problem is solved...
