Hey guys. New to the snowmobile world... im trying to put a new clutch on and while attempting to torque the primary down, the crank is spinning while the clutch (which is supported by a prybar) is tightly in place... just wonder if there are any suggestions As to how to getthe crank to stay? I think the clutch is not sitting back enough on the crank... ,aybe theres am easy way to get it seated tighter? Trying to do thid without air tools if it is possible... any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Are you sure you are installing the right clutch, I see you are putting on a new clutch.

Make sure the mating surfaces of the crank and clutch are clean and dry.
As 01SXR700 suggests, is the clutch correct?
Due to the tapered fit, the clutch should seem to "lock" onto the crank with just pushing it on.
You shouldn't need to do this, but bring one of the cylinders to near TDC (actually, ATDC since you're tightening) and take some cotton rope and push as much as you can into the plug hole thus over filling the combustion chamber which will stop the crank. You want the piston above the exhaust port so no rope gets caught between the port and piston.
Again, you shouldn't need to do this if the surfaces are clean and of the correct/same taper.
