Yep, like the title says. The lamp is on at all times, no matter what. Heat exchangers warms up like normal so the thermostat is ok.
I work as an electrician so I know the basics, where faults usually occur and so on. I've checked every wire for continuity, every coupler for corrosion and tightness.
Removed the sensor itself and measured the resistance in different water temperatures (2,7k at 20 degrees celsius and 200 ohms at 60 degrees celsius, like the specs says).
Eventually plugged everything except the cdi back together and measured both the lamp and sensor from the cdi plug. Lamp circuit was approx 20 ohms and sensor circuit 2,7k.
Even tried to place a resistor (2,2k, equals aprox. 30 degrees celsius) directly into the sensor plug (wire side ofc) with no luck.
Could it be a faulty cdi? A shorted or broken sensor circuit would give a fault code in the temp lamp right? Seems like the cdi just always think the temperature is too high.

I'd break open the thermostat housing and just verify T-stat is good. When they fail, the fail closed. Mine failed and actually was in pieces when I took it apart. I had to blip the throttle all the way back to the cabin and the light would stay off, any constant rpm and light would come on.

Turned out to be worn wiring, the bundle under the cdi. Several wires were partially grounded.
