im thinkin about fabbing a couple of extensions for my rails and am seeking some info on how long they need to be. rails now are for 121. i think i read somewhere on the net the rails move the rear axle center back 6 1/2 inches to accommodate a 136'' track can anyone confirm this????
They should be 7,5"
136" - 121" = 15"/2 = 7,5"
136" - 121" = 15"/2 = 7,5"

Take the difference between your track lengths and divide by 2.

what would be the tallest lug track that could be used with the stock drivers and have clearance? 1 1/4 would be nice

Others may be able to chime right in, but the easiest way is to crawl under and measure or lay it on its side. The big thing to remember with going taller is that track acts like a big fan. It draws air and snow up through the tunnel and if there is minimal clearance the drag will kill performance. That can be remedied by going to smaller drivers and lowering the suspension in the tunnel.

so I'd like to long track this 87 exciter and there are some deals out there. i was thinking i would just make my own extensions for the stock skid but why even bother? its not anything to write home about so all you guys with long tracks would would be the ideal ticket? we have power here 95 % of the time and want to run a 1 1/4 track. mainly trail riding and some pond lake stuff too. I've only ridden 1 sled that was a long track and that was years ago so i don't really know what good. i want something with a nice ride and travel but don't want to get too crazy height wise so im not plowing.

Ski Doo Summit for an uncoupled skid or a Renegade for a coupled. Renegades are 137 and early Summits came in 137/144 and later(Revs) 144 and up. Going to sit a bit higher though but the ride is nice. My phazer doesn't plow, ski pressure is just about right, but obviously it doesn't see time on the trails.
