02 viper no top end power!!!

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this whole forum thing so sorry if I'm not doing it right haha. I have an 02 viper with triple pipes I bought like 3 years ago with 300 miles on it. It now has 1000 miles. I had it in the UP last weekend and it was running great and then all of a sudden when I would hit WOT it felt like it would drop down to 2 cylinders and then it would kind of come out of it then do it some more, I could only get like 60 mph out of it. From low to mid it seems to run fine and idles perfect. Could this be a carb issue or perhaps power valves? I cleaned the carbs early this year but then it sat again for a while as we don't have much snow in MN. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Just curious, did you pipe it or did the previous owner? Have you ever cleaned the power valves since you bought it?

What rpm do you see when going wot?

Anyhow, I'd start by removing the servo cover and tug on each cable. Do any feel loose and not spring back? If so, pull all three valves to clean/fix/adjust.

Did you clean the inlet screen (top hat filter) on top of the needle/seat when you had the fuel bowls off?

remove and clean the power valves and carbs again. the way it is cutting out sounds like crud in the main jets but a powervalve cleaning never hurts.

No I have never cleaned the power valves since I bought it. It falls on its face around 7 thousand rpm. The guy I bought it from owns a little yamaha dealer and it was his sled and he put the pipes on it. I will go through the carbs again and be very thorough I will also go through the power valves. My sled isn't at my house so I may not get to it until the weekend.

Oh, okay. I was just wondering why a guy would pipe a Viper and only put 300 miles on it. Being a business owner, he probably didn't have the time... or the money for fuel :)

Yeah, I'd start with the power valves.

I assume you've lurked around here and know about some of the other things important to Vipers (needle settings, rear cooler, opticool gskt).

Yeah I have been browsing on here for 2 years now and just had no need to post anything until now. Thanks for all your feedback guy's. I will update this post after i dive into it and see what the out come is.
