Hello everybody, I am new to this forum. I just recently (yesterday) purchased a vmax 700 sx. It is a 97 with only 2300 km on it in mint shape. It was supposed to be stored inside for the season but was actually outside. After bringing it home and letting it dry out, I tried the choke cable to see if it would start. The choke seems to be seized. It looks like the cable can move but the rod will not. I have sprayed penetrating oil and then had to go out of town for the rest of the week. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas as to what it might be or if anybody had seen this before. I would really like to get out on it this weekend. Is it hard to take the rod out that goes to the three carbs for the choke (I think it is called a starter rod) and clean it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The plungers on the carb seem to pull out, its just the rod does not move.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

if you have deemed the plungers to be free that means you already loosened the set screws on the shaft for the plungers. no way to activate the plungers when attached to the rod.
theres only one pivot point on that assembly and then three slide throughs on the carb bodies. either the pivot point is stuck or its sticking on one of the carbs, or one of the plungers is stuck.
mark your plunger brackets on the rod if there isnt already an indent from the set screws so you know where to re-install them. from there, you will have to remove the pivot screw and the 2 or 3 screws securing the throttle plate to the carb. just remember those screws are soft, they are factory loctited, and steel corrodes to to carbs. heat and proper fitting tools will save you. pay attention to the spring orientation as well as that plastic sleeve thingy just below the pivot.
