I'm looking for some advise about current sleds. My last sled was a MotoSki 440 circa 1974 and I have been out of the loop on snowmobiles for several years. I am looking for choices in good dependable sleds for occasional riding. I am 69 year old and don't think I'm up to racing or drift busting, I just don't want to be the last one to arrive at a "rest stop". The 4 strokes interest me and I have looked into several of the early RX1's. Sorry if I opened a can of worms. but I am interested in experienced thoughts. Mostly I wold ridr in Northern Michigan and possibly the UP. I appreciate any viable input.

Best to register on the four stroke side of the web site. I'll bet a Venture or Vector is in the cards... http://www.ty4stroke.com/

You would probably want to go with a 05 or newer. The suspension is better on the 05 than previous years and even better on the 06 and up. Probably at your age you would want a good suspension. just my .02 cents from all the searching and asking questions I have done trying to upgrade my suspension on my 99. Hope that helps. x2 on looking at the 4 stroke side
Thanks for the info. I'm not only looking at 4 strokes, I just want a good dependable sled.

anything with a Yamaha label is pretty dependable if all the maintence was done. there are some that are more desirable than others but for where you are saying you are going to ride I would recommend a 600-700 triple as they get good fuel milage, take mods well and run dang near forever. a sx venture would almost be perfect for what you described.
