My hand warmers stopped working. The grip cracked . I purchased an after market set but it has 3 wires instead of the stock two. The question I have is do i wire the 2 high and low positive wires into the stock positive wire. Or should i use the whole aftermarket kit with toggle switch and by pass the factory wiring

I would hook the high wire to the stock positive wire. That way the thumb warmer will work the same with the resistor knob. I found factory hand warmers somewhere online.

Sounds good. Can I also disconnect the thumb warmer? It gets too warm.

Which wire is positive? The two that go to the harness or the one that connects the two gripes together?

I would leave thumb warmer alone, its getting too hot because hand warmer isnt working. Not sure of the year but should be a yellow/red wire near grip, if you follow it up handle bars, it will connect to another yellow/red, thats positive.
I think both of what you say are the same positive as long as yellow/red. What year is it?
