Does the 700 red head oil pump keep pumping oil when it takes a $hit?

Have a 01 700 thats going thru oil like crazy!

5 quarts in 360 miles crazy!

Mine went this weekend also...Chugged almost a gallon in 150ish miles. Thought I was going to get off easy this year and only pull the motor once #$%&*

Watch your oil line routing and if you use a 2" riser you may need a longer cable. I thought my pump was toast. Turns out when I put on a 2" riser it was enough to pull on the cable. Pull the rubber sleave back on the oil line and turn your bars back and forth to make sure it is not pulling on your cable mine was. Ordered a cable for a mountain max. It is 5' longer.

I was burning a litre every 75 km with the cable within spec. Put the new line on and getting around 200 km to a litre now.

Yes, watch the routing on the oil cable, if you have a 2 or 3" riser, you might just be pulling the cable open a lot as you turn from side to side. I had the same thing happen the first time I put a riser on.

Mines burning a lot of oil and fouling plugs. A 100 mile day and it won't start without clean plugs installed.
It has a 2 inch riser installed by PO

What vendor u fellas using for a longer cable? Or from a breaker yard?

I just bought a cable from a mountain max they are 5" longer.
Any one know what the red head 700 is supposed to burn for oil. 1 litre to 40 l ?
