hi, had a question. 1998 srx 700 top of the engine there's a coolant rail with a nob at the end of it with a on and off setting. Was curious where it to be set at. thanks

Yes leave it on. It supplies heated coolant to the carbs. Without it you may have problems with water freezing from your fuel in the carb circuits like the pilots main jets

The primary reason for the heater is to prevent the slides from icing. Either from snow dust in extreme cold or when the ambient air is just above freezing.

Like the guys said it keeps the carbs from icing or freezing up. Just leave it "on" all the time.
