Has anyone tried to polish the engine parts of a srx engine? I will be pulling out the old pistons and rings for new ones and in the process I would love to polish pretty much everything I can. Heads, water rail, cylinders, powervalve caps, top's of the carbs. Has anyone stripped the paint and polished these pieces? Also, does anyone know where I can get some steel braided spark plug wires? thanks, AJ

I just ordered some alumabrite and could let you know how it works. I ordered 4 different kinds, some acidic and some not to test it on aluminum. I literaly just ordered it last night on amazon. I think these products just remove the oxidization but you still have to polish it. I will post results. I am going to test it all on a skid I bought. About $100 worth of brighteners. I send back what doesn't work.

Be carefull what you wish for. These engines are very messy with oil. I started polishing but gave up cause it's always dirty. I would recommend just polishing the clutch cover and pipes they only need a wipe down to bring back the shine.

I saw that. How long does it take to do that? I'd wait until summer or something to start a project like that. So far the winner in my tests is Hydro-foam but you still have to polish after that. I have 1 more to test. I think the Hydro-foam was the cheapest aluminum brightener in my tests, not positive though and it's dangerous stuff. Im working on mine slowly but surely. I am testing these chemicals out for parts like that, not the tunnel or exterior aluminum.
