Im looking for a new track for my VMax SX, Right now there in between 1" to 1 1/4" depending who you listen too to measure the lug, Reason for replacing is its like the sled is on ice all the time, all it does is spin, she has a few easy mods performed like head gasket mod and reed spacers, Im also going to drill the factory can and drop from 23 tooth top gear to 21 teeth, Id like at least 1.5" but would rather 1.75" if possible, Right now I cant really see what the sled is made of because of the spinning, any and all help would be appreciated

1.5 is a easy fit.
1.75 will fit but snug.
21t top gear is a good choice. RPMs will need adjusted after it is installed.
Intense or Backcountry ?

why not replace 9t to 8t drivers which will give you more than enough track clearance and give you almost same results as dropping teeth off top sprocket. Actually just noticed your only a couple hours away from me! I have a set of drivers on the shaft ready to put in that id gladly give you.

gearing down makes it easier for engine/clutchs to spin faster to get same track speed. going to a 1.75 I wouldnt even worry about it. Im in lewisporte by the way.

Gearing down, either by changing from 9t to 8t or via gearing in the chain case will get you a larger spread through the clutch ratios, using the full face of the clutches and running them cooler. Most sleds are over geared and will max out on drag before they get all the way through the clutch ratio spread (i.e., full shift out) By gearing down you can get full use of the clutch and most likely even go faster.
If you get all the way into high gear at shift rpm it can then tractor its way to top speed at a higher rpm because your now in high gear full shifted out.
That's the practical side of it, the fun side of it is you'll get a sled that pulls harder and is more fun to ride.

Gearing down takes load off of the engine. Causing it to rev more. But seeing that you'll be putting a 1.5 or better track on, it might somewhat balance out.And what do you mean by changing RPM
