Heat Exchanger Guard Removal???

I see alot of people are telling to me remove these guards? I was wonder if you really need to for a 1.5 inch lug track or not, and if so, where exactly are these guards and what do they look like????

They are mounted on top of the front exchanger. And yes you will. They are 1 inch square tube stock riveted on top.
