Hey guys, I just purchased (new to me) an older 96 DX. I love the look of these old sleds and I am trying to remember when they came out new there was some problems with them needing a recall to put a cylinder head shim In them I think and then I heard some broke the cranks off by the clutch. Is there anything I can do about these issues now? and are there any more problems known about these beasts that I should Know about?
thanks in advance guys

Not sure on the recall stuff other than the crank end breaking off was for 1994, and was updated for 1995/1996. I don't know if that was a recall either, or just a warranty replacement if a bad one actually does break. Since yours is a later sled, should be fine unless a non-updated 1994 engine was installed at some point. That said, and based on the graphics, your sled looks like a 1995 model.

I will double check the serial number, I just picked up the sled in person last night at 10 pm, buddy thought it was a 96, I will double check it. I hope it's not the 94 then lol. the machine is suppose to be all original also. Thanks for the info

T.S.S. Maintenance
On most every used T.S.S. sled I've bought the Knuckles and steel bushing are frozen and completely locked up and pivoting on the bolts to the point where the locked up joints won't even allow the springs to return let, alone the struts to work when hitting a bump. The T.S.S sleds have always gotten a bad rap for slop developing when the ungreased steel bushing's freeze up they grind away on the nylon washers ! I have sleds that are 20+ years old that have never had a bushing kit and are almost as tight as new. Just take the knuckles and the ski mounts apart every other year and grease !
