Hello guys and gals. New here and looking forward to to learning about Yamaha sleds.
I have a 84 Phazer. Today I replaced the pull start as well as had the Starter rebuilt and a new battery. Well the pull start works very well but the electric start won't. Turned over healthy the first try and then would barely turn over after that at the key. Currently charging the battery as where I got it said to "trickle charge it for an hour " which I did for 2 hours. Just wondering if there is anything else I need to look for as well. The sled has 120 lbs in each cylinder and has 8500 miles on it. The pull start does start it with 1-2 pulls every time.
Thanks in advance and looking forward to being educated.
Thanks
Dale

Welcome Dale.
I'd check all the connections and cable between the battery and starter feeling for heat after you try and crank it. Find heat, you found a bad connection.
Check the ground cable between the battery and engine, chassis - again feeling for heat.
In most cases, a starter overhaul is just a good cleaning - primarily the armature... and new brushes if you're lucky

Sounds as if the battery just needs a good change. They need a good lasting charge to turn over the engine. Welcome to the site!!

If the battery was dead or even low trickle charging for an hour isn't going to do much. Plug it in overnight and try again. And yeah, check all connections.

I can smell gas but after pulling the plugs and grounding them , I believe there is no spark now . Started yesterday great with the pull start but wont start that way either . Suggestions ??
