OK, I bought a 98 srx last spring and it has all shocks Ohlins. After I installed a 1 1/4 ripsaw and simmons skis, it carves and rides excellent. I am now looking to get another 700 but which sled would be better to get to soak up the bigger trail bumps and still rail corner to corner pretty good? I don't mind if I have to send shocks for revalve, kinda figured it may be needed anyways. So what do the yammie experts suggest!?
And thank you ahead of time for any experience or setup recommendations.:2strokes:

Having never owed a srx, I would say that my viper is more comfortable than my older generation vmax. Pretty sure this is what a viper was built to do over a srx, great corner to corner and rail like handling with a little more travel in the suspension. You'll sacrifice a little bit of HP due to the single pipe vs. triple pipes put its still plenty fast. Some will say its the best Yamaha ever offered in a 2 stroke trail sled. I ain't the expert on all that tho, just my experiences with the viper and what I've read. I'm sure you'll get someone chiming in who owns both.

I own both a heavily modified viper and a Srx. If your goal is a machine that requires little to no modification to be a nice trail sled, your best bet would be a viper. If your into the whole mod sled thing than a good argument can be made for both of them.

The stock suspension on both are certainly lacking big bump performance. The viper is certainly far better stock than the Srx though. That said there are many proven swaps out there that can easily improve the performance.

The Srx is faster than a stock viper but a set of triple pipes and some tuning can make a viper faster. The down side is a drastic drop in fuel mileage. The digital dash and modern headlights also make the viper a little more enjoyable to ride at night.

Lots to consider! At the end of the day you won't be disappointed with either. image.jpg

I have had SRX's for over 14 years (first one was new in 00) and after coming on this board a couple years ago - I ended up with the same Q you have....

And I got a VIPER. 2002 w an M10 shock set up. Got it for my GF to keep up with me on my SRX and I end up riding it all the time when I want to dial back the torque and smooth the ride out. I love the Viper. Handling is great - fast just not as quick - jumpy... but I like it a lot.
