Well members I did the transition on the skid idlers to Polaris wheels.Ok you know what happened, the rear 2 that are under the scissor,by the rear axle, they self distructed!!I mean the rubber litterly shredded off the plastic.Do these 2 wheels not get changed? If they do,what have you guys' done for this not to happen?

should not be a problem, mine are fine.Only thing is maybe the wheels you have tend to be off position compared to OEM because of bearing thickness, then the rubber part tends to rub more one side of the guide nubs on the track and wear them off.

Well the bearing thickness shouldn't matter because the bearings go onto the shaft the same as the Yamaha ones and then the circlip holds the bearing! I don't know what went south here! The wheel size is : 5.35x.75 polaris replacements.

If you have studs, I bet they are tearing them up for being loose or something in that nature

Well bluemonster, its probably because they are a bit wider than the oem wheels.I put the old ones back on and that's probably how it'll stay. Also looked today after the oem wheels were installed and the wheel is rubbing on the inside part of the nub! So more than likely the polaris wheels are a bit wider and this is why they got beat. Also the track isn't original if that makes a difference? Can't see what i'll loose with the oem wheels anyway. All I know is I'm out $35.00.

Odd, I have been running Polaris idler wheels 5.375 for over 3,500 miles still on the same hyfax also. I do have 8" rear axle wheels on the OEM yamaha shaft. No issues at all with my wheels. Al

I have used polaris wheels on all 6 in my skidframe starting back when I had a new 98 srx, 2000 srx, 2001 srx,2002 srx, 3 vipers, 2003 rx1 I have yet to have any problems, they are no differnt in width then the stock ones are, I think the guy must have gotten the wrong wheels or somthin, no issues with this mod it works great!

Why the polaris wheels? More color choices? 8" wheels on rear? They must take a lot of abuse. I will have to look into that mod. Sounds like it would look neat.

I did the front 4 on the outside on my srx and that is all you need to do!!!!don't bother with the inside ones!!!!I have had them for 6 years no issues...check stud location too if you have them....zero hyfax wear since..studs will destroy the wheels!!!!

I use the 7.5 in rear and Polaris wheels on all 6 front plus added a small wheel kit up front and have a studded track. Not only did I trail ride but always had the sled entered in radar runs and no issues with wheels. One rear wheel needs replacing now after about 3000 miles

I didn't think you could just put a bigger rear wheel on. Like too much stress on the bearing or something. Now I got the cat skid in and want some color but very limited unless I like green or purple or red.

OK guys',I bought a set of Yamaha oversize idlers from Rec. supply, the guys' there told me these are the ones that'll work(for the rear),so removed the oem wheels off the aluminum shaft, and started the put the new wheel on and noticed that the bearing was not even close to bottoming on the shaft and the circlip groove was like way up.No way this will work, the bearing is a 6005 which probably is that much narrower. The wheel is 135 mm.So as Marty f said I'm not bothering with the rear wheels, the Polaris ones have a taper to them, top narrow bottom wide and this wide section is rubbing the lugs and totally destroying the rubber off the wheel! The front ones are doing there job great.
