So I just picked up a gs 340 and I cannot get it to start on its own. Runs on spray, seems like it's pulling fuel up to carb but nothing any suggestions? Also on the left hand side of carb there is a linkage where does it go thanks

Beyond the obvious looking at replacing the filter and checking the lines for cracks, both fuel and vacuum. It might be that the fuel pump needs rebuilding and+or it could be crank seals. Doing both cant hurt and at least then you KNOW what you have. Unless you like guessing and troubleshooting!? Did you do a compression test? I had a Rupp doing the same thing, it was crank seals.

So I put a new carb kit in it checked all lines filter ect, it will start now and run for a bit but is boggy then stumbles and runs good then just quits.. Pull it it starts and does the same I don't get it. Is there any adjustment I could do? Didn't do a compression test seems good but I will check tomorrow! Oh and the guy I got it off of said all bearings and seals were replaced a year ago but who knows...

Left hand linkage would have gone to oil pump ... are you mixing this sled,,, did they maybe not seal up the pump drive
and it could draw crankcase air in that end .... prop up the track if you ever get it to idle and squirt some starting aid or equiv. at the
PTO seal and oil pump , outside !!! I hate spraying in at the points as they can fire the ether as well but if she revs up from the ether
you will know where you sprayed .... my other pet peeve is blocked off mufflers with nests
