well had 2 nice rides on the 87 exciter this weekend. trails were rough in some spots but to be expected as there not maintained too good. today i just couldn't get comfortable on my seat so as i rode back home i finally realized how bad my seat height is. when im riding i feel it all from my knees to my hip from the seat just being too damn low. not alot i can do now this late in the season other then build myself a booster seat so to speak to increase the height. luckily i have a large computer chair that didn't get tossed yet for the foam. its around 3 1/2 inches thick and feels about right and will compress a good little bit when sat on. just wondering if others have done the same. i have big plans for a total custom long track build and will include a nice new custom seat.

I too at one time wanted a higher seat. This was when I first got back into sledding after a 10year hiatus. I had the same knee/hip complaint as you. I realized my particular problem really wasnt the sled. It was the way I was sitting and driving. I used to choke up on the seat and would end up riding darn near on the tank. It took a season or two to gain the confidence I needed to actually relax and more or less sit with my butt to the rear hump, and feet in the foot wells. After I got used to this (and set my sled up to actaully drive straight) I had no more complaints.

sounds like we lived the same life throttlejunkie. this is my first year back since 2002. at that time i was running a 94 vmax 600 nicked named "the couch" and it was no where near as bad as this is. my brother was running a 88 exciter and had the same complaint as i do now. i rode his back then but not far enough to have an opinion. i was a bit younger too so. now at 43 maybe im just turning soft!!! i tried every position possible and don't care to ride standing up like some do. i'd like to have my feet in the forward position but end up having them in back because of the angle while forward makes it worst transferring the bumps to the hip area

well,i fashioned up a booster seat and that's not the hot ticket either. foam i pulled from the chair just not dense enough. too be honest gave the sled a bad feeling. i ditched it after 2 miles and picked it back up for a ride home after riding. guess i will live with it as is for the rest of the season.
