Hello ready to through a match to it. few weeks a go went for a ride. after about 10 miles shut sled down for 5 minutes started back up and no headlights, no taillights, no tach. gone through all the wires cant find any rub through, put new stator on new regulator changed the capacitors changed the blue relay. can the cdi cause the headlights not to work. engine starts and seems to run fine. I don't know what else to try. need help!!!!!!!! thanks Brian

Still sounds like a rub through to me...look under handle bar pad, I found one there once.

likely the harness UNDER the engine is rubbed thru and caused the load control relay to trip, the load control relay is the white one.

I agree with you mrviper. OP said he looked for rubs, just giving him another place to look besides the under engine/ hood hinge places.
Will check wire harness again. Thanks for info.

Mine does the same thing but I let it warm up a bit then shut off and restart it and it always turns back on, doesn't always do it either, maibe I should check my harness after this season, what's involved? I bet your gonna tell me to pull the motor for the one under the engine

You don't have to pull the motor. There is a couple tabs bent over the harness to hold it in place under the motor that can be a PITA to get bent up to release the harness. If you plan on leaving it under the motor tie a piece of string to it before you pull it out the back side so you can use string to pull it back threw or you can re-route it....be careful about parts that get hot.
