Anyone ever have a power valve shoot out of a cylinder because the bolts holding it in vibrated out? Mid ride my viper starts making horrible engine noise after a shotgun like bang as I'm riding down the road. I stop, let it idle for a min cuz the pop startled me, and then smoke starts spewing out from the hood and as I hit the kill switch I'm thinking that this thing is toast. Get it opened up and the mag PV is laying on the exhaust, gasket intact, cable intact and all four bolts are laying in the bellypan right under the cylinder. Only damage done is an exhaust burn on my arm from digging the bolts out. I put the bolts back in, pull the cord and it fires right up. Rode it home like nothing ever happened. Not sure if I'm lucky or unlucky on that one, that was the second ride I took after cleaning the valves. Could not believe 1. It happened and 2. I actually found the bolts. Idk...feel free to share your thought, that's gotta be a first.

Ha ha ha, I'm blaming the ethanol. Glad to see someone else has been there. Time to buy a torque wrench I suppose.

Hahaha! What blue monster said! haha! I laughed out loud at that! Just glad to hear no other real damage occurred!
Finding all 4 bolts is what surprised me lol. Usually one hides somewhere real good.
And another vote for Yamaha dependability lol, motor practically blows up, you put it back together with your bare hands, on the trail no less, and ride it home.
Ah the good ol' days of 2 strokes.
