When I start up my 01 SXR700 and first drive it out of my shed, I THINK I smell a hint of coolant in the exhaust. I usually let it warm up between 5-10 minutes before driving it out. When the engine revs high to clear the bump (5000 rpm maybe) is when I THINK I smell the sweetness in the exhaust. I can never smell it afterwards when its warmed up.
The coolant level in the tank has never gotten below about an inch above the LOW line. I actually added some coolant to FULL yesterday (because it was an inch above LOW) and now its over the full line. I don't see any signs of coolant in the snow or around the engine.
Anyone experience this during cold startup? 3000 miles BTW.
Thanks.

I have had this too but mostly when it sits for a period of time like a week or 2. I never had to add and actually put my pressure tester on it ,pumped to 10 psi and ran sled, needle did not move and left it on over night and it did not drop even a pound. Yeah, a sweet faint smell of coolant. I stopped worrying about it after that. Mines a srx. throw a tank of Klotz in the oil tank and you wont smell anything but kleenix or dryer sheets. my motor milage, unknown. sorry for bad typing, cat is on my lap rolling around.

moved thread to appropriate model area...thanks!!!
Thanks for the reply guys.
Ran it a little last night and its difficult to tell. Coolant level hasn't moved in the last 2 rides.
Thanks for the oil advice. When I'm done with my yamalube I'll switch to something else. Preferably a full synthetic. My wife will enjoy smelling like dryer sheets
