I was wondering how changing the the helix location on the secondary would affect acceleration, top speed and even belt wear, Secondary is all stock and I seen alot of people say set it to (6-1)70, I was wondering what is the factory setting and what should I expect from changing this, Im guessing that 6-2 would mean 80??? I like riding aggressive trail, I love the hard acceleration but still like to go wide open on ponds, what would be a good setup for me, Im also still running the factory gearing, 23/40, Lots of info on the topic would be appreciated
Dont tune overall setup by the sec. Is sled max rpm 8500?

es its about 8500 rpm max, and what do you mean by the second???

You could change it to 80 and it will back shift and accelerate a little harder when you get on it.

So making more tension on the spring will it be harder on the drive belt???? will I lose in anyway by doing so? top speed for instance and could I damage the secondary clutch???

The radial preload of the helix is independent of the belt tension by the compression of the spring. Increasing the preload will cause it to back shift a little sooner, so when you get on the throttle it will be a little snappier. Kind of like an automatic transmission with a shift kit. When it down shifts it hits hard. A secondary effect is that it will raise peak rpm at full throttle by delaying shift out a little bit. That's NOT the way to tune peak rpm, but it's a secondary effect. If you really want to make it back shift fast, pick up a 43 degree helix which is for a mountain sled. Your sled should have a 45 which is more trail friendly to keep revs down when upshifting. The flatter helix will downshift faster under load, which is what a mountain sled wants to keep up track speed when you don't get stuck. On a ditch banger (which is how it sounds like you ride) it will make it very snappy and playful.

What kind of riding do you do 90% of the time

90% trail/ditch banging, I go a little off trail but nothing to serious because I know I dont have a mountain machine lol, but I still like to hit some nice snow drifts every now and again, Id still like to have hard acceleration and good top if that were possible, the factory set up is pretty good but dont have the low end grunt id like to have

So I took the helix off of my SX today and noticed it was set to 3-3 witch means 60???? I seen alot of people recommending 6-1 witch means 70, this is only a increase by 10 so it really shouldn't chance that much right? I also have a back up secondary that I got from an RX1, it is also set to 6-1, but I noticed on the side of the helix its says 54R44 or 54/44, what does this mean and what would be the gains over the stock helix im running on my SX now???? Also noticed that it has a black spring with a silver dot on it

Go up to 80 on your stock secondary or you can try the other secondary. I'm guessing the 54/44 will be too steep but it won't hurt anything to toss it on and try it just to give you a feel for it.

So what will the 54/44 do, make her faster, slower, pick up better, rev higher? I really dont know much about this yet, Just starting to learn
