I rescued this 87 Yamaha Inviter from a barn in central Ill. about 4 years ago brought it home and started taking it apart only to find out the mice had been making it there home for the last few years. The engine was locked up, carb froze up and the belly pan rusted bad from the nestling mice. I decide to clean it up and put away for another day or to find another sled and use this one for parts. So fast forward 4 years and got it back out of the corner of my shop and took the engine apart to find that things look pretty good inside just needs new seals and a good cleaning. Carb is f**k from the mice pee and corrosion, took the chassis all apart and its not that bad of shape will need to have a belly pan made for it and needs a complete paint job but I think I can do something with it. I will post progress pictures it's one of those projects that could take a year or two to do because not sure how easy it will be to find parts. I am looking for a gasket and seal kit if anyone know where I can get one please pass it along.

Belly Pan

Pretty rough shape but I am going to try and reproduce one from scratch.

Awesome little sled, super great on fuel and a lot of fun. I had one a few years back and regret selling it. A little hard to get parts for though because they are so unique and different from other sleds. Inviter.jpg

I had one also just like the one I am rebuilding. Nice kids sled both my boys learned to drive on this sled. I couldn't just part it out had to rebuild it no matter what the cost. I know one thing when I am done it will be better than new. The Gold and Brown were real rare only made that color one year.

My two cents. I don't have to fab the top half, it's okay. I would use satin coat steel roughly the same gauge, cut that to shape for the bottom half then cut and weld the two together. Grind off the weld and paint it. You would have to etch the satin coat to paint it, but it would never rust again. TIP: Buy, borrow or rent an air riveter, if you don't already have one. Trust me. Then use good stainless steel rivets and forgo the aluminum ones.

Pretty sure it was the only liquid cooled single cylinder sled ever made.Very unique.Heres a pic of a clay model prototype Yamaha showed before it came out.scan0059.jpg

I have Brown/gold one. I keep it at our house up north where gas stations are very far apart. Of the sleds up there its my personal first choice, love that little thing
