I have a 1" lug track with an undetermined amount of miles on it currently on my Venture 600.
I am concerned because ALL the outside lugs are torn on the left side, and maybe a third of them are torn the same way on the right side.
Is this reason to replace the track? No studs, and no wear down the middle. This track is not original and I was told that the damage occured when the track was on the previous sled.
Thanks

I would probably replace just for peace of mind. might be fine for a while, I just dont like the risk vs reward on that scenario
That's pretty much my thought too. I don't think it will be a problem for a long time, but I don't want any issues either.
I found a used track, .92" lug and no rips or tears, overall great shape, actually it is in your neck of the woods. Do I need to worry about the age of the track at all?

If it's too old it could have dry rot cracks which will eventually lead to a tear. For the track that you have, you could seal the rubber back to the fiberglass rods with E6000. It's a great product and holds up well. I've got 2 seasons on a 2" challenger that I had to seal up 3 lugs on that got torn off.

age could be an issue, depends on storage mostly. any pics of the old track?
I don't have the original track, this track was on the sled when I bought it.
In a strange turn of events, I had placed a bid on ebay for a 1.25" lug track a few days ago and I won it late last night. Figures as I kind of made my mind up for a 1" track with studs!

My understanding is that this era sled (1997) will need the front heat exchanger guards removed and I can't run studs. Is there any way around this?

You could probably run 8 tooth drivers.
Hi guys. I'm installing the new 1.25" track today and I know I need to remove the front tunnel protectors but what about the top tunnel protectors?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I am keeping the 9 tooth drivers in.

keep protectors on. notch track where any rubbing occurs.
Thanks guys. Just to clarify, I did remove the front cooler protectors but will leave the tunnel protectors.

Mountain sleds have no protectors of any kind. As long as you don't stud it later you will be fine.
