Can anybody reccommend a source of replacement rope for the SRX 700 recoil starter? The rope on both of my sleds starters are frayed and grungy looking from years of use. I beleive the OEM rope is braided nylon. The local sled dealers only stock a rope suitable for small engines like chain saws. Thanks.

I get it from the local hardware store ... like Ace Hardware. They will have all kinds of ropes styles in bulk.

Go online or go to your local marine supplier that sells sailboat rigging and buy about 7' of 3/16" spectra. Thats a little longer than you need, you'll have a short piece to show off to your friends. It's a 12 braid high abrasion resistance product. The trade names are amsteel or Samson12 to name a few. The breaking strength is around 4000lbs. It will never wear out and never break again. It's available pre cut under the trade name cobra rope on Amazon or ebay. They sell an 8' length for $35. At a marine retailer it goes for around $1 a foot.
A couple of bucks

You can get the marine rigging rope on ebay if you don't have a local source. http://www.ebay.com/itm/350602568539?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
