Hey Guys, I'm replacing my driveshaft front bearing and I noticed the old driveshaft is beat up. I've tried ordering two different shafts with the cogs on them but neither seem to fit. The first had different points at the end of the shaft for mounting, but I'm not sure what it was out of. The second supposedly came out of a 1999 SRX and seemed like it might work, but I was looking at it in the garage tonight and saw that the wheels stick out wider on the end -- this would be fine because it has thicker lugs so the measurements still would be correct, but I can't fit the collars on the end (part #5 here). I guess I have 2 questions:

1. Could I use that 99 driveshaft without collars?
2. If I can't, do I need to stick to specific years/types to get the one I need?

Thanks,!

Those collars were put on from the factory on the newer SRXs to help keep the outside cogs from moving under load from studded tracks, and as you see on the 99 shaft you got there isn't any.The cogs can be pressed onto the shaft just a bit more to allow the use of the collars if you want or you can install the shaft and run it the way it is.If you want to use the collars the measurements for the outside cogs from the ends of the shafts are as follows;to side measure from the end of the axle to the edge of the cog on the shaft itself 43.1mm.On the chaincase side measure from the end of the axle to the edge of the cog on the shaft 111.9mm.If they are pressed on to those dimensions it will allow you to use the collars.I hope this makes sense.I tried to copy and paste the picture from the pdf of the manual I have on my computer but I haven't figured out how to do it yet.

Did you find one yet.I have a complete one from a 2001 with about 1000 miles on it.I'm from Wi too.
