What was available in 2002...Viper ? SRX? Both?

Hi everyone,
In 2002 what was available new from Yamaha? Was 2002 a bridge year with the Viper and SRX still available? I am looking at a sled that is a 2002, the owner said it is an SRX, but it looks like it has the Viper graphics on the side panels. Perhaps the owner made a mistake as to what he actually has.
I own a 2000 SRX, and I love it. What are the differences between my sled and a 2002 Viper? Were any improvements made by 2002?

Also this sled does not have electric start or reverse, can either be added easily?

Both were available in 02. SRX will have blue heads on the engine and 3 pipes.

both where availible in 02, they both had the same powervalve graphics on the hood..but thats the only graphic thats the same

To answer a few more of your questions....YES on improvement...DCS (Detonation Control System) and YES both E start and reverse can be added some what easily. E start and reverse kits used run around $300...each.

Oh and Viper is longer travel suspension........much easier on the spine.

My 04 Viper has it, not sure about 02/03.

So it turns out that the sled is a Viper. It is said to be in excellent condition, with 4,700 miles. What is a fair price? He is asking $1,800 with a one year warranty or $1,600 as is. Any guidance on the price would be helpful.

That price sounds fair. I haven't seen any around here for less than $1800, and those had higher mileage. Seems like prices are different depending where you live though.
