Picked up this Phazer literally out of a snow bank for $150, cosmetically it wasn't too bad, needed a lot of TLC, and as it turned out a set of carbs and new or rebuilt crank. Got an engine out of CA, evidently they ride there? Came out of a 92 Venture, had the carbs, newer style primary, looked like a good deal. Might have been but somebody dropped it during transport breaking the casting in both crank halves. So I have had to completely dissemble 2 485 engines, and reassemble the Venture engine with Phazer crank halves. Seems that Venture models have different flywheels, stators, even some kind of pickup on the aluminum fan shroud. Didn't discover this until I went to connect the wiring harness. So pulled those parts off and replaced with the Phazer parts.

I know that the Venture has a second seat and hand warmers, but can anyone tell me, why the changes were so significant??
The stator has many coils located radially, while the Phazer stator has only 2 coils, and I have no idea what the pickup in the fan shroud housing is????

This has been a pretty time consuming project. I'm not done with it yet.

Extra lighting coils for the rear hand warmer and a different ignition. Later phazers had the pick up coil as well.

Yes, I think it is mainly a year of manufacture difference not a model difference.
