2001 SRX 700 Clutch Offset

I don't have the book for my sled and need to align the clutch. I'm going to build a clutch alignment tool. Does anyone have a tech manual or owners manual and could tell me what the offset is for a 2001 SRX 700? Snapshot of the page would be awesome if possible

At idle my sled will sit there and squeal. Give her a little rpm and it goes right away. I've replaced the belt and cleaned and inspected the primary. everything looks good. Anyone else seen this? Only thing else I can figure is alignment. so annoying....gotta fix

Centre to centre is 267 to 270mm (10.52-10.62 inches) and the offset is 13.5-16.5mm (.53-.64 inches).I have the manual as a pdf file on my laptop but can't figure out how to copy one page and attach it to a post.
 
how high is the belt riding on the secondary sheaves??May have to remove a washer on the 3 bolts behind the secondary to get sheaves to open up a little to drop belt some and eliminate that squeal.BUT you should check your center to center first.

I will have to check that out. I didn't consider the secondary (maybe I need to) because the problem occurs when the sled is stationary at idle rpm. Could the secondary be causing that squeal.....when the sled is stopped and the secondary is not in motion...just sitting there? Just wondering how? Thanks for the reply. Any info or advice greatly appreciated. Gotta get this solved
 
I've heard that aftermarket belts can be slightly different sizes , when did the problem start, and did you change your belt?
 
The secondary controls the fine adjustment for belt deflection by way of the 3 screws on the backside as mentioned above. Obviously the CTC of the clutches is the rough adjustment for this. Basically the amount the secondary is allowed to close (stopped) controls how "loose" the belt is which affects the contact in the primary and the engagement speed.

There are aftermarket products that can even tune finer than the 3 screws and can be adjusted easier. Many do actually squeal if you tune as tight as possible. I like the setup to just start to turn the track with the sled on a stand, but this can often cause a squeal at idle. With expansion and contraction of materials this squeal will come and go depending on temps (air and various involved parts).

Aftermarket belts is a whole 'nother topic. The factory specs are for the OEM belt. Changing the belt hardness of any other characteristic requires different tuning.

Good info. Which way do you turn those screws to make the belt a little looser?

I haven't changed the belt lately but it's been doing it for a long time, many years. I know the belt is not the factory one, gotta be an aftermarket.
 
For the belt deflection adjustment (after CTC and offset is right) you take the screws out and add or delete equal sized washers, replace the screws and tighten securely (don't strip). Adding washers adjusts for less belt deflection (secondary closes more), deleting washers adjusts for more belt deflection (secondary can't close as much). If you remove all washers and the belt is still too tight, you may need new screws. The ends of the screws is what stops the closing of the secondary.

As other have menitoned, aftermarket belts don't seem to hold the same tolerances so tuning/adjusting to an OEM vs. aftermarket can be different.

I'd suggest buying a Yamaha belt but wash it with soap and warm water, let it dry a day or so and re-evaluate.
