LIFE MEMBER ONLY ONCE!!!
well its that time of year again and thoughts turn to my SRX again. After a nice fogging in the Spring, time to fire up the Beast again....a lot of smoke rising and the sweet smell of 2 stroke oil
So decided to start with re-ringing and started to tear things down.Pistons all look great and cylinders look awesome as well. Now last season I was worried about oil dripping down to my floor from my sled.Everyone told me to check all my oil lines which I did and could not find a leak.Well after removing the exhaust pipes and power valves,I have a good chance to look down and the belly pan was full of oil.It happens to be my PV's really leak oil at start ups and the oil finds a way out and drips out to the floor. So I replaced all 3 seals with new hoping this will stop the issue.
Back to re-ringing for a minute..specs say to check ring end gap at .014 to .022 inch.Just tried sliding one ring into a cylinder ands I get .018 inch. Now if they all measure that way..then I would be good to install.BUT do some of you go with the larger gap or am I safe at .018 inch ?
So got to do regular stuff like clean carbs, adjust PV's,check drive bearings and re-pack. Also going to remove 48 studs from the track. From 144 to 96 studs saving some weight and rotating mass.
Going to rebuild the clutch's with all new bushings as well and start with a new belt this season. So I can Break the motor in and belt at the same time..then will ride it like I STOLE IT....

And of course go thru the skid bearings and check it all out.Might be a while until we get snow, but will be ahead of the game this season.
This is all for now, will pop in once in a while to see how things are going....
