1997 Vmax 7000 making clunking noise

Hey, just got this sled and I've only rode it for a bit around the yard. It wasn't making this noise at first and now it is,.

Sounds like it's coming from the front of the track but almost the front of the track. A loud clunk and sounds/feels like it's slipping or hiccuping, really hard to explain. I just know it doesn't sound good.

Prop rear of sled up and allow track to spin. Sounds driveline related but i cant really tell what from the video.

Have you gone through sled at all? Its a good idea to do so with a new (used) sled.

oh shit I forgot to mention that, doesn't make the sound without weight on the sled.
 
To me it sort of sounds like the track is loose. Your drive wheels are slipping on the track. If track is loose tighten it up and if the sound continues check to see if drive wheels are rounded off if so replace them.

X2 on the track being loose. That's what they call racheting. With weight on the track and the drive wheels trying to pull all the slack that is in the track is right at the front.

heard. The guy who sold me the sled is coming by tomorrow to look at it, as he knows a metric shitton about snowmobiles.

That would be a hell of a loose track if its ratcheting with barely any throttle.

That is true but I have seen it once before. That was my first lesson in loose tracks. I also didn't know what it was. Tried hammering on it and it sounded terrible and that's when I figured it out. lol The flat spot on the belt and checking chain tension are also great suggestions and very good possibilities.

Don't think it's the track, tried tightening it and nothing. Changed out the belt and still making the sound. I think it's a bad bearing. It's my first sled so I don't know much.

Gonna check the chain tension tomorrow.
 
Is the track hitting anything? Check and make sure the tunnel protectors are not loose. Especially up under the gas tank. You can feel them through the windows in the track up right behind the drive wheels.
 
I couldn't figure it out and neither could the guy who sold it to me. I just got it and only put about ten miles on it, so he took and brought it to the shop and is paying for it.
