MM700 Redhead water pump leak

Hello everyone!
New to the forum, english is not my native language so bear with me!
I recently treated myself with a dream sled since i was a little kid, but i've stumbled upon a few issues and the most concerning is that it's leaking coolant from what seems to be the water pump below the exhaust header.
The sled has got 12800km on it (about 8000miles i guess) so they sure have been using it, it looks fantastic tho!

A quick Google tells me that this is a pretty common problem, but my question is - is it doable with the engine still in the sled?
What seal is often the culprit in the water pump?
Here in sweden i can order a rebuild kit for around 50USD,so im happy its still available.

Got myself pretty stressed out now, got a mountain trip planned that i don't want to miss!

99% of the time the only part that needs changed is the rubber coated washer that goes on the bolt that holds the impeller on. Part number 8CH-12451-02-00
This doesn't require engine removal. Don't bother changing the mechanical seal.
If your machine is a 97 model, change the impeller also as the 97's were all aluminum that sometimes strip, and the 98 and up have a steel spline built in.

Oh okay thanks! So you would suggest only changing that? Wouldn't it be wise to change the big seal/o-ring that goes around the cover or could i use some permatex sealant when assembling?

Do you know if there is some write-up / guide on this? Tried searching both Google & Youtube but came up empty handed..

My sled is an '00 by the way.

Yes, change the large 0-ring in the cover.
Not a hard job. Remove exhaust manifold and front right engine mount. Support the engine. Easiest way to support it is with overhead winch/chainfall if you have it, otherwise something under the engine.
When installing new washer, wet it with water to act as a temporary lubricant so rubber does not get damaged when tightening bolt. Put a small amount of loctite on bolt threads.
