I just finished a top end rebuild with Wossner forged pistons in my 02 Viper and I'm wondering the proper warm up procedure after break in is done.

I've heard you should heat soak/cycle (idle warm up 10m, shut off, idle warm up 10m, shut off) the engine a couple of times before riding. I've also heard a 10 minute idle warm up, then ride gently for 5 minutes and then do whatever.

What are your recommendations?

Thanks!

I like to heat cycle freshly rebuilt engines.
Mix the first tank of fuel at about 50:1 until you know the oil pump is working.
I will start the sled and let it idle and ensure there are no leaks or odd noises, let it completely warm up then shut it off and leave it to completely cool off over night, check the antifreeze level, inspect it for issues or leaks again, repeat and then ride it.
When riding a freshly rebuilt engine vary the throttle setting and don't hold it wide open for the first tank of fuel and keep checking that it is actually using oil from the tank.
Two strokes actually break in pretty quick and I probably go over board in my break in procedures but it has worked for me.

I've done the break in process already so I'm wondering what a typical warm up is for forged pistons after this since they have a different expansion rate than cast.

In a perfect world you would wait until the heat exchangers start to warm up but in the real world let it idle for a bit and then take it easy for the first five minutes or so of riding...
