My vmax won't move after sitting for two yrs and I took the clutches off. The primary is dirty but rollers and ramps all moved/looked good and gave it a good cleaning, sled has 3k on it. On the secondary I see this band of "sandpaper"ish material coming out of the bushing and wondering what is going on? It looks like it jammed on the helix and the helix is scarred pretty good in several spots and two of the ramps are gone.
From looking on the site I can use a clutch from 95 and 96 too right? I'd like to get away from the snap ring and need a helix anyway. I want to ride my baby for another 20 years.

That would be the problem. It look like the bushing has fallen a part on the secondary. My vmax won't move after sitting for two yrs and I took the clutches off. The New Secondary Brain Child Is Done And Is Easy To Do
Well the stock Phazer secondary took a crap and I was not gone to be limited to fixing that pathedic vintage thing. So the brain child went to work on a fix with some adjustability options and found it pretty easy. My dealer gave me a new style secondary clutch to borrow from the 2010-11 models...
