Hey there. This is my first post. I recently purchased a sc10 lll for my 98 VMAX. I didn't want to post this question but can't seem to find the answer I've been looking for. I understand that I need to drill out new holes for mounting the skid, what I need to know is do I use the front stock mounting points on my sled for the skid and measure from that point the distance for the rear holes. I've read several posts on hear but just unclear about the front mounting position. I appoligize if I posted this thread in the wrong section. New on this site.

No... you need to get the measurement from the center of the drivers to the first hole and then inside top of the tunnel to the first hole from the skidoo, then from hole to hole and inside top of tunnel to the rear hole.

I don't have an sc3, but if you can't get the measurements off the donor sled, try to find a friend who has a sled with that skid in it. What I ended up doing was searching my local dealers until I found a used sled with the same skid I bought. Most dealers want to make a good impression, the dealer let me tip the sled over and take all the measurements I needed. Have you done a search for sc3 on the site? Any Pro-action sled has the same tunnel (1997-2006).

Unfortunately everyone I ride with have newer sled. I like my sled to much to give it up. Has all the power I need, great on fuel and oil. Just the suspension is taking its toll on me. That's why the upgrade. Not to many sled like these around anymore. I will see if I can contact the guy who sold me the skid. Pretty sure he still has the tunnel and go from there.

So I finally got the track and skid out. Went to measure out with measurements from donor sled and front mounting points won't work. My question is how much play do I have with the front. Could I go back 1.5" so it's in a clear spot ? The measurements I have would put the front mounts in a area I can't reach.

Is the sc3 the same as an sc4? If so, or they are close...I have a tunnel in the backyard that I could get measurements from for you. Just took an sc4 out of a 99 vmax.

What sled are you installing this into? I put one in an SRX and had no issues. It was a pain for the front bolts . Whats in the way.. you have some pictures?

It's going into a 98 vmax 700 xtc. The front holes will be right at the foot rest according to the measurements. I know many have installed these skids so I must be missing something.

I've put SC3s in a srx, a viper, and a rx1. One of them the front hole ended up right in the steering hoop (can't remember which one) anyways that's where I ran it. A bit of a pain to get at but no problems otherwise

You can move the skid back but not to much or you will not have enough room to tighten the track.

I've moved back half inch just for clearance. Can't see it being to much. Soon find out on the weekend when I have more time off to finish the install. All holes drilled out now. New drive bearings and new track put in place. Hope it all works out

Skid is on. Can't turn track freely. Have not tighten track yet. Is there adjustment that need to be made from front shock to help this. View attachment 594179417

That's what I'm worried about. Sitting flat on the ground the straps are really tight. Not sure we're I went wrong here
