currently running a 51/43 helix, bender pipes, stock motor, and 23/40 gearing.want to gear up a little, and was wondering what helix would work the best ?i have a 52/40 helix, would that work to keep me in my powerband?and if not, what helix would work best?

Better to gear it down to 21 or 22 top gear. As long as max rpm is at 85 -8600 rpm you fine

looking for a little more top end speed, and still wanna keep the rpm for the pipes.dont think i wanna gear down, it pulls hard as it is right now, it could use more gear.what helix would work best if i gear for 117?

i know someone has run a 24 top gear, and a 38 bottom gear.might not hit 116, but should keep up with a 2000 srx 700, or pull a little ahead with the setup im running.anyone have any suggestions on what helix?

well, guess ill have to just expirement on my own without any help.ill post the results as soon as i make some passes. pray for snow!!!

take a look at the sx, and the srx gearing from 97-02.im sure the srx was geared for more mph because it has more power right?so, why not gear for more mph with a piped sx?making almost the same power, i would think it would respond well to the same gearing.just a theory i have,if your track is spinning off the line, why not give it more gear, and let it hook up better, and tractor its way up to 8500, or 8600 rpm like the srx?im gonna try it, and also some helix and spring changes in the secondary to try and dial in the sled for 116.probably wont run that fast, but ill find out on the lake.so, if you see a blue sxr go by you on the lake, its probably me,lol

brought the sled in to get it ready.i changed the stock primary spring to a ywy and added two engagement shims.bender says 4500 engagement for the pipes.i was at 4000 before.will i be close with those changes?i was also going to change the secondary helix to a max performance 52-40, but the bushing is worn a little too much for my liking.i also plan on gearing up at some point after i make some passes when i get the new bushing for the helix.any thoughts on this? am i headed in the rite direction?looking for more mph, and still wanna rip out of the hole.

i have three helixs to try.51/43 8bvfa yamaha 52/40 msr8 and a bender 9770 49/37. im running 23-40 gears with bender tripples, 96 studs, 1 inch predator track, reed spacers, stock engine and air box.my question is which helix will work the best with my setup?and should i also change the secondary spring?

my buddy has the same pipes with v-force reeds, same gearing in a 97 sx, and a 9960 45/39 helix, and that thing rips!!!never opened it up, but that thing pulls like a freight train

just curious, how many of you have been following my mods?im sure that some of you are looking for answers too.maybe someone will put there 2 cents in
