sxr 700 clutching and gearing

What kind of top speed are you capable of now? You have gears in it right now that should be good for about 106 mph or I am guessing around 120 mph on the speedo. They always read a bit optimistic. That would be at a 1 to 1 shift out on the clutch and no overdrive. I am assuming you have the standard 9 tooth driver. If you truly want to gear for 116 mph you are going to need to be at a 24/38. I am thinking that you may have difficulty pulling much more gear than you have in it right now unless you find a very long stretch of ice. Hope you can pull higher. It would be nice. I am a fan of not being geared any higher than I can find a place to pull the gear 95 % of the time. I normally gear down a little. Good luck.
