Hey everyone. First time posting on the vmax 4 side. I've always wanted one, but the SRX and the viper I just bought are keeping me pretty busy now. I'm not selling this its at my friends marina for sale. Thought u guys might be interested I guess it's an old exciter chassis with the vmax hood on it. Aaen quad pipes. New hyfax and clutched. The paint is a corvette blue. If anyone is interested I will be more than happy to give you a phone number

I guess I was mistaken! I never got to really look at it in person. Just got the pictures and was told about it. Thought I would post pictures of it. I guess serial numbers would probably help in this situation.

Its a 1996 yamaha xt500 with a 96 vmax hood and motor

That seems to make more sense with what these pros were saying

That's a 250 Bravo key with a blue Vmax-4 installed under it.

I was talking to the owner today. he said he bought it in 2000 with the engine swap already done. All he has done to it is put a new gas tank on it, new track, new hyfax and put the hood on it. And its registered as a 1996 vmax xt500

I say the owner is full of schnitt. I see nothing in the pics (they are not very good) that shows anything XT with the possible exception of the rear skid which was a popular swap. Everything else says Vmax-4 (95 or 96). Everything..

what should I look for in the vin for me to know if its a vmax-4 or not

As Constip8r said get serial numbers and that will tell what it is.
By the look and stance it looks like a 95 vmax4 just because of the long hood.

This is a list of Vmax-4 years with model prefix and known serial numbers for each year. The number after the = is then the known total production for each year.
The bulkhead (front frame) is telling. They are steel with front round tube on the 5/600's and all Vmax-4's were aluminum with a square tube.

I don't think the vmax 4 came in that blue. I thought all vmax 4's where black, or red
