I believe you have lubrication trouble. The scoring and lack of oil between the ports would indicate either not enough oil or poor quality oil. Any time i tried to lean back the oil adjustment the scoring appeared same as your picture. The smooth piston between the ports does not have the ability to carry and keep the oil. A possible solution. Holes to keep the oil. Or turn up the oil adjustment.
