xtc 700 head gasket question

I am in the middle of pulling my head for 2 reasons, 1 looking for a mysterious antifreeze leak and 2 removeing 2 layers off of the head gaskets. My question is there is a little notch on the head gaskets 2 are facing one way and 1 is facing the other way, it seem like they should all be facing the same way. which way should they be facing, i have attached pictures with a screw driver pointing at the notches. Any help is appreciated.

It doesn't matter. Have you found out where the leak might be coming from. If you haven't, going down to one layer is not the best idea. One layer gaskets have a 50/50 chance of leaking because there is not any "give" compared to a 2 layer. Whatever you do, insure there is a coat of Hi-Tack on all gasket surfaces.
 
Ok thank you I wasn't sure if direction mattered with the head gaskets. No haven't found the leak yet, but it doesn't appear to be coming from the head gaskets they look to be in decent shape. I am going to coat the gaskets with copper spray before i put them back together.
 
It helps a lot if the gaskets are hot when you spray C/C on them. They flash off instantly and a second coat can be applied immediately.
When I sprayed mine, I let them sit on the wood stove in the garage for @ 1/2 hour.

That's what i was hoping to see when i took it apart, but there wasn't any writing on them. So i put them back together with the notches all pointing towards the chain case side, ran it for a while on the stand seems ok so far.
 
I have looked at the water pump and didn't see anything obvious, but i don't have much experience with water pumps on snowmobiles. Where is the weep hole located on the water pump?
 
Its def. leaking from the weep hole, i just didn't look far enough under the manifold to see it the first time i looked.
 
ok time for a new one them the biggest pain about the whole job is getting the impeller off without cracking it ....heat from a propane torch and small flat head screw driver and use another bolt and screw it back into the shaft heat it up ,pry up on the impeller and lighty tap on the bolt to help release off the splines .....may take a while just did one on a 02 SRX and it took me 45min to get it off replace the mechanical seal and the small oil seal too
