97 600xtc backfiring problem

Having fits with my 12 yr old sons 600 xtc. Has 1800 miles on it. Sled had sat for about 5 years with no use. Grandpa gave it to him last year and it had no spark. We replaced the stator and he rode it around the farm for the winter. It started backfiring from time to time to the point of blowing the exhaust off. Changed plugs and coils and that didnt help. The sled does seem to run well until it warms up and then it will backfire. I have not done a compression check yet and the piston update had been done when new. Anything else to check ??
 
Clean carbs sounds like something is stuck causing it to flood and back fire. I don't think compression would cause back fireing also are plug caps on the right plugs? That would cause this same problem.
To much back fireing and you'll need a new motor.
