Looking for 1996 600 vmax upgrade ideas

Hello I have a 96 VMAX 600XT and I am looking for performance ideas to buy for it that won't break the bank!

Lots of easy cheap mods in the tech section. And some good clutch setups.
A couple of bucks will probably be able to help you alot as he has a 96.

Welcome to the site ThatBlueVmax.

When I bought my sled new I was very disappointed with its performance. It was louder with a higher engagement speed than my 95 600 but was slower.

It came to life with this setup and has since run circles around the 95 which my wife rides.

1, Maxx performance Jetting and clutch info using a 95 head gasket:View attachment 96 Vmax 600 XT clutch and jetting sheet.pdf
2, A set of V-force2 reeds (which can be hard to find these days since they stopped making them some years ago)
3, A set of Bender adjustable transfer rods (very very hard to find as they fit 96 XT and 97 Vmax4 only) Without these mine would not hook up at all.

I have close to 10K on this setup without a single engine/clutch/belt problem.

Looking to purchase a new set of boyeseyn reeds for the sled are they worth my world of buying?

A set of carbon fiber reeds from Carbon Tech is my choice.

Carbon tech are good but the boyeseyn are cheaper and perform good as well.

Do the boyeseyn reeds help any? And I'm looking for a easy clutch setup to use but don't know much about clutching

They help a little. Adding reed spacers will help alot as well as the thin head gasket.

Did you see my link in the 4th post? It has all my battle tested clutch and jetting info in it.

Not looking to do jetting is the thing

With my setup you run the stock mains and up the pilots slightly that's all.

Looking to run your clutch setup what would consider for a category? Ex. (On/Off Trail Agressive), (Race) etc, also would just have to buy a new primary spring and weights correct?

Just springs,helix and head gasket. Your sled already has the weights that either caravanman or myself call for. Would just need to adjust the rivets in those weights.
Think of the springs as a wear item. Their probably shot anyway.

Both his and my set-up use the 95 h/g which is sorely needed on the 96 XT6. Just getting it is a big performance gain.
Get the h/g and either of the primary springs to start with.

The thing is I dont want to mess with jetting and such as Im barely mechanically inclined

You could always get someone else to do the work for you. But its super simple to do and will only take few hours. You can be riding the same day.
