Looking for 1996 600 vmax upgrade ideas

Just that your jets vary one day they could be fine next day they could just bog, All I wanted was a change to the clutches thats it as no one around here does that stuff on sleds
 
If you go with the recommended jetting in caravanmans chart you should be good to the temps listed. You would have to purchase the correct jet and then take the bowls off the carbs and change them. It is an easy job and pretty self explanatory once you get in there. No matter what jetting you have it will always run better when it is on the colder side of the range than the warmer side. If you were to run in temps colder you would want to go one size up on the jetting to be safe. I would run the clutching the other guys said. That is also pretty easy to do. Mostly just swapping parts. Changing rivets in the weights is a pain but can be done.
 
You would need to re jet if you changed to the 95 head gasket but should be fine with just clutching.
 
Here is the post: In clutch setups I was looking at srx_eh's setup. Seems to me its a G-P-G primary spring it calls for? Also for ex(4.5) first hole, just getting into sledding and no clue what that 4.5 means and it calls for 1 engagment shim, it engages at 4100 RPM and peaks at 8000 and is using stock weights, they also talk about the helix position which is 45/41 (dont know what that is either) and a 70 degree spring setting (no clue either) Please help and tell me if this is a good setup.
 
I would listen to these other guys. I never messed with the clutching on my 96 vmax. In the setup you posted the sled has a 1.5" track which by itself can affect clutching and it is also at 4000 feet which can also affect clutching depending on what elevation you are at. No matter what you go with there is a chance you will have to fine tune the setup since a lot of variables affect power. I think these guys can get you closer to what you are after more than the setups I saw for the 96

The setup I posted he didnt have a 1.5 track there was another setup the guy had one in it, and did some looking around and contacted the previous owner and it already has 95 head gasket off a 600

On Caravanmans set-up sheet from Maxximum, look at the lines that say rivet #1 & rivet #2. The first column says STOCK at the top of the page. The second column indicates the changes from stock.
Both his and mine take the same stock 8AB weight with the same exact rivet changes in both holes.
