Going from round slide carbs to flat slide...opinions

Hey guys I have been throwing the idea around of changing out my round slide 38mm's to flat slide 38mm or 40mm's . I know the flats would be a crisper response are there any down sides to this besides jetting issues and air temp ? This is on a 78 SRX with some motor work.

only flats i even ran on a srx was on my big bore 79 motor ....ran them for one year they where crisp and worked well then i went to 44mm rounds ....and never looked back the 44's made that thing come alive .....i have round 40's on my 78 and they work great
