Viper Overheating ALOT!!!!!!

OK I understand that by not having a rear heat exchanger that it heats up very easily. The weather the past few days has been VERY WARM and alot of the snow is gone for cooling. So here is my question. I had my carb heater turned on, which is now turned off. By having that on will that cause the sled to heat up faster? I know that since there was not alot of snow that it would be hot anyway but it was heating up as I was going across the lake in DEEPER snow. Let me know.

LOL! Check your coolant level, sounds like it got low, and you got some air in it. Fill it and bleed it, it's a pain, look in the tech section for instructions.

I agree. I have an 02 Viper and put a rear heat exchanger on it, but the sled has Bender triple pipes, and Bender *strongly* recommends both the rear heat exchanger and a modified head gasket ("OptiCool"). The Vipers do have a tendency to overheat, although I never saw that on my stock Viper ER. Bleeding the coolant system is an important thing to do and is your next step.

FWIW, putting a rear heat exchanger on is pretty easy if you have any mechanical skill, and it's not that expensive...look at http://www.benderracing.com/Default.cfm .
 
It shouldn't be overheating, do the above mentioned steps and you should be fine. I ran mine hard in 30 degree temps on groomed hard packed snow last weekend with the carb heaters on and not even a hint of overheating problems
 
Are the exchangers all hot to the touch? If not could be a possible coolant flow problem, stuck closed thermostat? Just a thought!
 
could also be a headgasket. Does your coolant system become excessively pressurized?
