Looking for clutch info

I am looking to do some clutch changes on my 2002 Yamaha Viper. It has a hauck roller secondary with a D helix 51/43. Primary weights are Yamaha style with nuts and washers. I'm looking to add adjustable weights in the primary, but not sure of the different types out there ?? I'm also wanting to try different helix angles, but not sure if I have to stay with Hauck style helix with the roller secondary?? Is there a procedure to check the poundage on the secondary ?? The clutches always seem to be hot to the touch, especially the primary ?? 9200Rpm 38/22 Gearing
 
if the clutches are hot to the touch you might want to adjust your clutching. I don't have a viper but my SRX clutches are cool to the touch no matter how hard I ride. No you do not have to stay with huack helix for the secondary. Not sure but with the roller on the back you add about 5 to the angles. So your 51/43 acts like a 56/48. I would try something with smaller angles or swap out to a stock secondary and try you sled again and check the clutches. With my SRX with the roller on the back I run a 48/40. I just got a 45/39 I would like to try but need to rebuild my rollers first. Right now I have a Super Torque and I like it so far. No snow to really test yet. Hope this helps
 
What would be a good spring and weight starting point with Heelclickers?
Heavy Hitters starting point?

Currently has 55/135 spring and somewhere around 53 grams.

Man, that thing must rip!, I have a Hi-Tech roller not installed because I like the way it is now, I have a 51/43 in my standard 2ndary and a YWY in my primary bud can't remember the weights. I want to say A-15 but I think that is my other sled. Do you think that the rollers are really that great? I don't know because I didn't put mine on, maybe check for flat spots on the rollers and they will get hot putting around the yard with the 3 inches of snow. Maybe hold off until you have a place to ride but heard heelclickers are the way to go but too over my head for setup, I now have those adjustable engagement and deflection adjusters on mine and it is right on. thats why I don't have the roller on. I do know that rollers like lighter springs then regular style clutches. I have the 8dn something weights, I think the 20's but a whole different ballgame with a roller. Mine is being rebuilt by Duane Watt from hi-tech. I should have it by the end of the week. I am now more interested in ride quality so I am messing with that. I put 3 miles on this season so far Yaaay. It is now cold and snowing. P.S. isn't 9200rpm a little on the high side?

If you use heel clickers the red spring is for trail and the gray is for drag racing. I could give you my setup that mrviper told me to run on my slp piped trail ported viper at 9000rpm.
 
I have a 04 viper ( Boyesen Rage Cage, MBRP can, 136 track with 1.5" lug, WEISCO forged Pistons) all new this year along with a heel clicker clutch kit primary has red spring and secondary has yellow spring (not sure on helix) got this kit from bender racing and all I can say is it RIPS night and day difference from the stock sled it was last year!
Crazy bottom end but top came down to 105 mph with this kit ( working on getting my top end back) but all and all love the kit and its many available setting changes would recommend this kit to anybody

Only 105? LOL, Maybe a slight gear change? 1 tooth more on the top? I don't think it would affect your clutching all that much and sounds like you have alot of clutch parts laying around so I would try a tooth bigger on the top sprocket and go from there. I can't test anything because what little snow we have will probably be gone by Sunday night, sad winter over here. All my screwing around and can't test anything so all my current work is cosmetic. I got mine to 118 on the speedo last year and was still climbing but ran out of room. I will probably never go that fast again and it was not GPS mph. I modded an Arctic Cat skid to put in so it would be easier on my back last season and STILL haven't tested it except in the yard but My guess is I lost a few MPH because of such long travel so I am told but I will take the trade off if this is true. I didn't know those Vipers could rev that high but your motor sounds built up, mine is stock as far as I know and is a SRX. My sweet spot seems to be 8350 rpm.
 
The only problem with piped ported heel clicker setup is tired arms from hanging on all day! Seen 103 on speedo slowly climbing let off but thats with m-10 and kimpex aggressor with 1 3/8" track.
