SXR 700 How to get better throttle response??

It also helps a lot to change the top gear in the chaincase, stock is 23 tooth. Use a 22 or even a 21, then also make sure the clutches are tuned properly. These things are not properly clutched from the factory.
 
it involves notching the reed stoppers to allow straighter flow into the boost port, this clears up the low speed hesitation. im not a fan of the reed notch due to the fact that you are weakening a part thats already known to break. i also feel that reed spacers are more effective since they get the whole stopper out of the way and are safer.
 
So reed spacers are in and i installed a nicer set of carburetors. I used a set from an srx and switched out the jets. It runs but not right. One thing i remembered after was air jets. I never switched them or adjusted them to spec. It kind of starts like an srx. Choke it, it idles way up and wants to stall out until you choke it again. once your driving it will stall as soon as you stop and don't work the throttle. Could Air jets be my running problem? Along with idle adjustment?
 
best setup i had with stock 00 sxr 700 was what mr viper told me to do.reed spacers,142.5 mains in all three cylinders,needles in #3 position with both washers on top.bored the stock can,and changed the helix to an 8bvfa 51/43.put the stock carbs back on with this setup, and give that a try.i wouldnt mess with the head gasket personally.if you want it to hook hard, then remove the top spacers in the transfer rods, and adjust the springs on the rear shocks, and or full rate adjuster until the spaces are equal on the transfer rods top and bottom.it will ride smoother in the bumps, and hook 10 times better than stock.the front shock in the rear skid is what takes the big bumps,and the rear is your comfort.hope this helps.
