Yamaha CDI Questions!

Hello! Looking to change out my CDI on my 96 Yamaha 600 VMAX XT as it is showing the cat liter stuff inside of it. Part number is F8T31973 but on the CDI there also is a 4 digit number. My friends 4 digit is 3612 and mine is 5610? Anyone know what they mean? Thanks

The factory piped 600 use different boxes than the standed ones due to timing advance curves. The 500 is different as well. As a test you'll be find to swap them. What is his motor size?

PS: My box has always had that kitty litter look on the back. Not a real indicator that its fried.
